On October 11-12, 2018, the Phase I Field Investigation and Assessment Meeting for the CAS Hongguang Special Project "Industrialization of Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Coal Gasification Technology" was held at Jiangsu Jianhu International Fishing Port Hotel. The assessment panel comprised 15 experts, including representatives from CAS Hongguang Project units, experts in the field of coal gasification, experts from local regulatory authorities, experts from typical users, and financial experts. Chaired by Fu Guangyi (Director of High-Tech Division, CAS Bureau of Science & Technology for Development,), the meeting was attended by Chen Wenkai (Deputy Director of the Bureau), Lü Qinggang (Deputy Director of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics), and representatives from the project partner company ZHGAS.
On October 11, the panel visited Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Lianyuan Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Project updates were presented by Deputy Director Lü Qinggang, General Manager Yu Kuangshi, and Deputy Manager Meng Guangjun of ZHGAS, followed by in-depth Q&A.
On October 12, the formal assessment commenced with a welcome speech by Bai Lu (Director of S&T Development Office, IET CAS), outlining the project’s significance. Deputy Director Chen Wenkai delivered a keynote on the Hongguang Project’s strategic objectives.
Deputy Director Lü Qinggang reported project progress. Experts then evaluated technical feasibility, economic viability, and development challenges based on field findings, concluding with actionable recommendations to mark the successful close of the assessment.
