ZHGAS’s Sludge Carbonization Technology for Low-Calorific Biofuel Production Selected for Anhui’s “Five 100” Energy Conservation & Environmental Protection Advanced Technologies

On November 22, the Anhui Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology? announced the 2021 “Five 100” Promotion Catalog for Industrial Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection. The Sludge Carbonization Technology for Low-Calorific Biofuel Production, developed by CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZHGAS), was selected as one of the advanced technologies in the catalog.

The Sludge Carbonization Technology for Low-Calorific Biofuel Production, developed by CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZHGAS), was selected as one of the advanced technologies in the catalog.

This technology involves carbonizing dried sludge under anaerobic or hypoxic conditions, converting organic components into small-molecule hydrocarbons through pyrolysis and thermal decomposition. The resulting products include non-condensable gases and low-calorific biomass fuels. The non-condensable gases are further combusted, with the high-temperature flue gas recycled as a heat source for sludge drying. Key advantages include low investment costs, high waste-to-resource efficiency, and significant volume reduction and carbon utilization, making it economically viable and widely applicable. Currently, the technology has been implemented in ZHGAS’s Qixian Sludge Carbonization Project.

Moving forward, ZHGAS will adhere to its “customer-first” philosophy, continue to focus on the solid/hazardous waste sector, align with industrial policies, and integrate R&D with market demands. Through technology optimization, system engineering, and commercial deployment, the company aims to apply multi-category solid/hazardous waste treatment and resource recovery technologies across industries, delivering practical solutions for waste generators.
