On March 14, Yu Yongsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Jining Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Jining City, Shandong Province, led a delegation to the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for a collaborative exchange. The delegation included Ma Shuhua, Secretary-General of the Jining Municipal Government; Si Xiangfang, Chairman of Shandong Hengxin Group Co., Ltd.; and Wang Jianwen, Deputy Secretary of the Zoucheng Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Zoucheng City. The institute’s leadership team, including Zhang Jiayuan, Deputy Party Secretary and Discipline Inspection Committee Secretary; Zhu Zhiping, Institute Council Member and Director of the Circulating Fluidized Bed Laboratory; Lv Qinggang, Director of the Energy Engineering Technology Committee and Senior Researcher; and Yu Kuangshi, General Manager of CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (ZHGAS), received the guests.
Zhang Jiayuan extended a warm welcome, emphasizing that high-quality development hinges on technological innovation. He highlighted the institute’s longstanding collaboration with Shandong Province and expressed hopes to deepen ties through this visit.
Zhu Zhiping provided an overview of the CFB Laboratory’s research focus, scientific achievements, and industrialization progress. He detailed advancements in CFB combustion/gasification, solid/hazardous waste treatment, and green low-carbon technologies, noting that the coal-to-ethanol gasification project—jointly developed with Hengxin Group and implemented by ZHGAS—has entered operation. Future collaborations will expand into biomass-pulverized coal co-gasification and dry quenching technologies.
Si Xiangfang praised past collaborations and proposed further partnerships in biomass gasification for green high-value chemicals and CO? reduction. Hengxin Group plans to establish a pilot laboratory this year to strengthen R&D exchanges with the institute.
Wang Jianwen acknowledged Hengxin Group as a pillar enterprise in Zoucheng’s high-end chemical industry. He affirmed Zoucheng’s commitment to providing full support for industry-academia-research collaborations between leading firms like Hengxin and prestigious institutions like the CAS institute.
Yu Yongsheng commended the institute’s six decades of groundbreaking contributions. As the cradle of Confucian culture and Shandong’s largest coal reserve hub, Jining aims to leverage clean coal conversion technologies to drive its coal chemical industry’s high-quality development. He urged deeper cooperation between the institute and Hengxin Group to build transformative platforms.
Zhang Jiayuan concluded by reaffirming the institute’s dedication to providing technical support for tripartite projects, aligning with national economic priorities and corporate innovation needs.
